* Contract: Fixed term - 12 months (Additional Department Resource)
* Location: Sheffield (hybrid role with at least 3 days in the office)
The South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) brings together the local authorities of Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham, and Sheffield to serve the communities and businesses of South Yorkshire. We focus on transport, housing, business growth, and skills, aiming to deliver recovery and renewal across the region.
Please note that SYMCA follows a structured salary grading system. The offered salary will be at the starting point within the specified grade, with potential for increases based on skills and experience. Key Responsibilities
As HR Advisor, you will provide comprehensive HR support to a key directorate, working closely with the People leadership team. Your role includes:
* Providing expert advice, coaching, and support on HR policies and employee relations.
* Managing employee relations cases to ensure fair outcomes.
* Supporting organizational redesigns with role profiles and consultation materials.
* Promoting early resolution of people management issues.
* Contributing to policy development and review.
* Supporting pay reviews, performance data analysis, and development planning.
* Assisting with HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Modeling organizational values and fostering a culture of excellence.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
You should be an experienced HR professional, preferably with public sector experience and a strong background in supporting people-focused HR functions.

* Experience managing employee relations cases.
* Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
* Experience with role profiles and job evaluation (e.g., Korn Ferry Hay) is advantageous.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills.

* Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
* Experience working within complex organizations with varied employment terms.
