CDC Porter
Location: Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, NR4 7UY
Salary: £12.92 plus excellent benefits
Schedule: Full time hours – 4 on 4 off shift pattern, including bank holidays and weekends. Working hours 08:00 to 20:00. Two 30-minute breaks (not paid).
Ready to impact a better future? As a CDC Porter in our Community Diagnostics Centre team, you’ll play a vital part in keeping diagnostic services running smoothly, safely, and with care. Your work helps patients move through their appointments with dignity and comfort, supporting clinicians to deliver timely, effective care.

What You’ll Do As a CDC Porter
* Safely escort and transfer patients between departments and diagnostic areas, ensuring dignity, comfort, and clear communication at all times
* Transport and position equipment such as beds, trolleys, wheelchairs, and oxygen cylinders as required
* Support the upkeep of clean, tidy, and well‑organised patient areas, corridors, and storage spaces
* Assist in urgent and emergency situations, including rapid patient transfers and major incident responses
* Move linen, waste, and clinical supplies in line with infection prevention and control procedures
* Work closely with clinical and non‑clinical colleagues to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and safely
Does this sound like you?
* Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare setting is helpful but not essential
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a calm and respectful approach
* The ability to stay focused and reliable in a busy healthcare environment
* Physical capability to move equipment safely as part of your day-to-day work
* A compassionate, patient‑centred mindset
* A good understanding of hygiene, health, and safety expectations, or the willingness to learn
Vetting and Checks
An Enhanced DBS check is required for this role. This includes spent and unspent convictions, cautions, and any relevant information held by local police, in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and safeguarding requirements. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire to allow us to provide any support needed for you to succeed in the role.
