Job Title: Childrens Waking Night Support Worker
Reports To: Registered Manager & Senior Leadership
Location: Ilkeston
Job Type: Night Shifts | Residential Care Setting
Salary: £24,761.88 to £27,011.88
Role Purpose
To support the emotional, physical, and social development of young people within a safe, structured, and nurturing residential environment during night hours. This includes promoting individual rights, dignity, and independence in accordance with internal policies, safeguarding protocols, and national care standards.
Key Responsibilities
Support to Young People
Provide responsive and reassuring care to any young person waking during the night, following established protocols.
Maintain a calm and homely atmosphere conducive to rest and well-being.
Uphold consistent and appropriate boundaries, routines, and behavioural expectations.
Promote healthy sleep patterns and a positive lifestyle.
Support preparation for admissions, transitions, and discharges.
Health, Safety, and Wellbeing
Actively safeguard and protect the welfare of all young people in the home.
Observe, assess, and record behavioural and emotional wellbeing.
Carry out domestic tasks including cleaning, laundry, and light meal preparation to maintain the household overnight.
Teamwork & Collaboration
Contribute to effective shift handovers and maintain accurate, up-to-date records.
Work cooperatively with the wider care team, external professionals, and family members when required.
Support new or less experienced staff through mentoring during shifts.
Attend training, supervision, and performance reviews in line with company standards.
Administrative Duties
Complete all required documentation, including progress notes, incident reports, and care updates.
Adhere to procedures for complaints, safeguarding concerns, and confidentiality.
Ensure financial transactions (e.g., petty cash) are managed and recorded accurately.
Comply with all internal policies and legal requirements, including health and safety practices.
