Surveyor – General Works Division
Based out of Hatfield (Projects across the Home Counties & London)
Up to £80,000 + Comprehensive Package
A well-established and highly respected regional contractor is seeking an experienced Surveyor to join its General Works team, operating from its Hatfield base.
With a strong presence across the Home Counties and London, the business delivers high-quality new build and refurbishment projects up to £10 million in value, primarily within the education, healthcare, and wider public sectors. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are looking to strengthen their commercial team.
The Role
As a Surveyor within the General Works division, you will be responsible for the commercial management of multiple projects from pre-construction through to final account. Schemes typically include:
New build and refurbishment projects
Education facilities (schools and academies)
Healthcare environments
Public sector buildings
You will work closely with operational teams, clients, and the supply chain to ensure projects are delivered commercially and contractually in line with expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Managing the commercial lifecycle of projects up to £10m
Procurement and management of subcontract packages
Preparation of valuations, variations, and final accounts
Cost reporting, forecasting, and CVR management
Contract administration (JCT predominantly)
Risk identification and value engineering
Maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships
About You
Experience as a Surveyor within a main contractor environment
Proven track record delivering new build and refurbishment projects
Experience within education, healthcare, or public sector projects is highly desirable
Strong working knowledge of JCT contracts
Commercially aware with excellent negotiation skills
Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience
