Salary: Grade 6 : £28,437 - £30,89
Hours: 37 per week, 43 weeks – 39 weeks term time plus 4 weeks during school holidays
Permanent Monday to Friday – Some split shifts will be required am & pm

Job Purpose
To supervise and maintain Building Cleaning Services to contract sites under the management of the Cleaning Manager.
To assist in maintaining an effective, efficient and quality service on contract sites in compliance with documented specifications.
To supervise approximately 90 cleaning staff (including site supervisors) employed at various sites throughout the County.
To take a lead role in ensuring Health & Safety and safeguarding regulations are adhered to.
Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities
To assist with the recruitment, selection process and interviewing of prospective job applicants.
To carry out safeguarding procedures for successful applicants including induction training, risk assessments and DBS applications.
To conduct 3 monthly and 5 monthly probationary reviews with staff including annual appraisals.
To conduct and record return to work and stage 1 sickness reviews with staff as required.
Provide Tool Box talks/presentations to staff regarding new procedures, policies and/or cleaning products and machinery.
Maintain and update staff personal details on iTrent including sickness and training entries.
To assist the cleaning manager with the measurement and preparation of cleaning specifications in relation to new and annual contract quotations.
To carry out daily checks to ensure standards are adhered to on all contract sites and that specifications are correctly used.
To identify and rectify issues that may arise from site visits/inspections either by way of employee instruction and/or training.
To ensure staff operate within Health & Safety procedures, and to carry out training programmes for the operation of equipment on contract sites.
To ensure that the control of substances hazardous to health (COSHH) are adhered to, and to ensure staff are adequately trained and quantities strictly controlled.
To assess and rectify any issues that are reported in the site communication book if appropriate according to specification.
To ensure that all staff understand duties and specifications.
To redeploy staff for sickness and annual leave cover and liaise promptly with the cleaning manager.
To liaise with Cleaning Services Management as required.
To check and remove equipment from potential risk areas and arrange repair of such equipment via the cleaning manager. To carry out and/or supervise specialist cleaning operations subject to variation orders.
To monitor and rotate stock levels. Order material requisitions monthly be completing a materials requisition form and sending it to a designated address.
To drive a fleet vehicle when required to do so.
To issue cleaning materials and equipment as required.
Resources/Equipment/Material
Health & Safety PPE Clothing.
Denbighshire County Council fleet vehicles.
Laptop, Computer, Mobile Phone and Digital Camera. Site measuring equipment.
Health & Safety materials and equipment.
Materials and consumables stock required for the purposes of cleaning. Cleaning machinery namely - vacuums, rotary machines, scrubber driers.
Supervision/Management of People
Direct supervision of up to 90 staff.
Supervising front line staff to ensure cleaning contract compliance.
Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience
The post holder must have excellent organisational skills and good communication skills. The post holder must have a willingness to attend regular cleaning skills, updates and technical training sessions.
The post holder must have an empathy with the language and culture of Wales.
Cleaning techniques and supervisory skills.
Special Working Conditions
Moderate exposure to cleaning chemicals controlled COSHH regulations. Moderate physical activity while preforming cleaning tasks.

They are expected to ensure that staff work in a safe manner according to Health & Safety regulations and all staff are trained in appropriate cleaning techniques.
