Due to an increased demand within our business, SYPAQ is seeking an Enterprise Architect for an opportunity with a Federal Government Department. This is a long-term contract with the initial contract up to June 2027 plus 3*12‑month extensions. The opportunity offers a potential start in March 2026. The role is based in Canberra; remote and hybrid options will be considered but preference is for the candidate to be based in Canberra.
Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Enterprise Technology Architect to provide strategic technical direction and assurance across their enterprise platforms, cloud environment, and integration frameworks. The role engages across all levels of the organisation to understand business drivers and ensure technology solutions are secure, scalable, and consistently aligned with the agency’s operating model.
The Enterprise Technology Architect will, in collaboration with other architectural domains, assure the design of solutions delivered through the agency’s Change Program, BAU activities and emerging initiatives. They will be responsible for developing architectural strategies, technology roadmaps, and reference architectures that guide delivery of modern and resilient technical solutions. They will play a leading role in the assessment of technology options and opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
* Engaging with business and technical stakeholders to understand the agency’s business model and technology needs.
* Building strong relationships with business owners, architects, and delivery teams.
* Maintaining strategic architectural artefacts, including principles, current state landscapes, and future state visions.
* Contributing to the agency’s Digital Strategy with a focus on technology enablement.
* Developing models across application, data, integration, infrastructure, and cloud architecture layers.
* Providing architectural assurance for the agency’s Change program and end state architecture.
* Offering architectural leadership to multidisciplinary teams delivering prioritised features.
Required Skills & Experience
* Extensive enterprise architecture experience within Government.
* Strong understanding of the ISM and PSPF.
* Experience guiding architectural advisory groups.
* Knowledge of TOGAF and agile frameworks such as SAFe
* Extensive knowledge of Microsoft’s Azure and 365 product stacks.
* Extensive knowledge of industry best practice and market offerings relating to digital platforms.
