Player Research sustains a small group of ‘Research Assistants’ for occasional paid part‑time work, helping us with the practicalities of setting up playtests with groups of up to 24 people at a time, here in Brighton, UK.
Being a Research Assistant typically includes overseeing groups of players, answering any questions, ensuring they are stopped to complete surveys at specific time points, and making them comfortable. You may also be responsible for some note‑taking during playtester interviews and/or in‑game behaviour, and/or helping us interview participants over the telephone.
We normally contact Research Assistants about 1‑to‑3 weeks in advance of a playtest to ask for their availability. It usually involves betweentwo and six days of paid work.
About You
We’re looking for people who care about games — ideally with an interest in games user research. It’s a bonus if you can show you’re interested in things like human‑computer interaction, psychology, anthropology, game design or product design. You must have an existing right to work in the United Kingdom. Being a Research Assistant is a great first‑step for people who would like to pursue a career in user experience research in the games industry.
We are an equal opportunity employer and strongly value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, religion (or lack thereof), sexual orientation, gender identity, age, marital status, parental status, or disability. Player Research doesn’t simply accept differences — we actively celebrate and support it for the benefit of our job applicants, our employees, our services, and our community.
