The Role
We are looking for a
technically minded Client-Facing CAD Technician
 to join our growing team. This is a key position for someone with strong CAD and problem-solving skills who enjoys turning design concepts into accurate, production-ready drawings.
We are currently transitioning our systems over to
Microvellum
, so this is an exciting opportunity to be involved from the start — helping to shape how the system is implemented and integrated into our workflow. You'll play a crucial role in establishing best practices and ensuring seamless collaboration between design and production.
Experience with
Microvellum
 and
furniture manufacturing
 is
highly desirable
, but not essential for the right technically capable candidate. What matters most is a strong understanding of construction principles, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to learning new systems.
Key Responsibilities
 * Work directly with clients to interpret design requirements and produce detailed technical drawings.
 * Create accurate 2D and 3D CAD drawings and production drawing packs using
 Microvellum
 (or similar CAD software).
 * Assist in the
 setup, development, and rollout of Microvellum
 within the business.
 * Produce and manage
 Bills of Materials (BOMs)
 and project data, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
 * Use
 Excel
 for estimating, costing, and data management.
 * Collaborate with production, workshop, and sales teams to ensure all designs are manufacturable and meet internal standards.
 * Advise on design feasibility, materials, fittings, and construction methods.
Essential Skills and Experience
 * Strong technical mindset with a methodical, detail-orientated approach.
 * Proficiency in CAD software, cost breakdowns, or project coordination.
 * Excellent Microsoft Excl skills - Confident using formulas and managing structured data.
 * Experience producing detailed technical drawing packs and BOM's for manufacture.
 * Understanding of construction methods, materials and fittings
 * Excellent communication skills - Confident in dealing with clients and team members alike.
 * Highly organised and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Desirable Experience
 * Experience in
 Microvellum
 and/or
 furniture manufacturing or bespoke joinery
 .
 * Background in estimating, cost breakdowns, or project coordination.
 * Workshop or production experience within the KBB or furniture industry.
 * Experience supporting the implementation or development of CAD-based manufacturing systems
