Role
The Data Engineer will design, develop, and maintain data infrastructure to ensure reliability, scalability, and performance. Key responsibilities include:
1. Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to fulfil data requirements and support analytics initiatives.
2. Collect, process, and transform datasets from various sources, ensuring data quality, consistency, and integrity.
3. Develop and optimise data pipelines, ETL processes, and workflows for maximum efficiency.
4. Design and implement efficient data models, schemas, and storage solutions.
5. Build, deploy, and maintain Azure-based data solutions, including Data Factory, Databricks, and Synapse Analytics.
6. Implement best practices in data governance, security, and compliance.
7. Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve data pipeline issues promptly.
8. Keep up-to-date with emerging data engineering trends and technologies to continuously improve processes.
Profile
The ideal candidate will have strong experience across modern data engineering tools and cloud platforms:
9. Proven experience with Azure Data Services (Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse, SQL Database, Data Lake) and Power BI.
10. Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL).
11. Familiarity with Python, Spark, or other data processing frameworks.
12. Knowledge of ETL/ELT processes, data modelling, and data architecture principles.
13. Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS.
14. Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance standards.
15. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
16. Strong communication and collaboration skills, able to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
