Overview
We are seeking to appoint a Clerk / Governance Professional to the SSB to provide governing body clerking support for one of our Schools Governing Bodies, Rosebery School, in Epsom.
At GLF Schools our local governance structure is customised for our Multi Academy Trust. Each school has a distinct character and culture to meet the needs of its community and context. We retain a local governance committee for our schools called School Standards Boards (SSBs). The clerking role supports the SSBs and is part of our Trust governance team led by the Trust Governance Manager. The role involves providing effective administrative support to the SSBs, ensuring the governing board is properly constituted, and managing information in accordance with legal requirements while supporting the wider governance team.
We require a clerk to support Rosebery School, in Epsom.
What we are looking for
The role and salary will include travel to the schools to attend six meetings per year (two hours per meeting) for each SSB. The clerking duties and travel costs are included as part of the hourly rate. Access to a computer, printer and the internet at home is essential as most work will be home-based outside of school meetings.
The successful applicant will have a genuine interest in school governance, keeping up-to-date with current educational developments and legislation affecting schools, and knowledge of how governance works in GLF Schools. A clerk must be independent, possess integrity, and have strong interpersonal, organisational skills and a positive attitude.
At GLF Schools, the clerking role is a Senior Specialist pay level (£33,426 FTE). The ideal candidate will be:
* Organised and able to work to tight deadlines.
* Flexible and adaptable to the needs of the Trust.
* Confident in communicating with all levels.
* Able to remain professional when handling confidential material.
* Knowledgeable about governance procedures and educational legislation and guidance and/or willing to develop knowledge.
Hours and duties
The role involves clerking for the six two-hour meetings over the academic year for each SSB, attending three two-hour forums across the year, and attending any training required to deliver the role, including preparation, planning and minuting of scheduled SSB meetings.
To Clerk a single SSB, the hours of work are 102 hours across the year, for 38 weeks of the year (just under 2 hours per week term-time only), plus 13 hours per year for forums, professional development and training.
Salary
Senior Specialist £33,426. This is the Full-time equivalent. Pay will be pro-rata’d for 102 hours a year.
