Mechanic Workshop Supervisor | Local Council
$55 – $75 phr depending on quals and experience
We are currently seeking an experienced Plant Superintendent to ensure the efficient day‑to‑day operation of the mechanical workshop servicing and repairs, including coordination and supervision of employees.
Based at the Wilberforce Depot, this hands‑on role is ideal for experienced mechanical supervisors looking to lead a team from a project‑based approach to work.
Spread of hours covers 5:30am to 6:30pm.
Applicant must provide own tools.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure regular maintenance procedures are carried out on all plant and equipment
* Ensure staff undertake correct procedures and safe work practices
* Co‑ordinate purchase of replacement parts to ensure continuity of repairs within a minimum time
* Contribute to the development of the plant replacement program and associated budget process, including stakeholder engagement in assessing plant and equipment needs and the timely procurement of plant and equipment identified in the plan
* Ensure out‑of‑hours breakdowns, particularly garbage trucks and bush fire vehicles, are attended to promptly
* Ensure all registrable plant and vehicles comply with requirements for registration
* Lead continuous improvement and organisational change activities within the workshop team to improve efficiency
What You'll Need
* Trade qualification in Heavy Diesel Mechanics or Plant Mechanics
* Heavy Vehicle Registration Inspector certification
* At least 5 years of hands‑on supervisor experience
* C Class Driver's Licence (MR or HR licence is a bonus)
* Experience with truck and car repairs and maintenance
* Experience with construction plant repair and maintenanceExperience in writing reports
* White Card
* Australian citizenship or permanent residency
Highly Regarded
* Boat Licence
* Welding and fabrication experience
* Confined Space Ticket
* Permit to operate Backhoe, Loader, Forklift, Mobile HIAB
* Hands‑on, physical role requiring lifting up to 25kg
* PPE provided and required at all times
