Children with Disabilities Social Worker Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council Up to £35 per hour Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking an experienced and passionate Children with Disabilities (CWD) Social Worker to join our expanding, dedicated team. The Role As a CWD Social Worker, you will manage a complex and diverse caseload, focusing on achieving the best possible outcomes for children and young people with disabilities and their families in Stockport. Key Responsibilities * Assessment and Planning: Undertaking comprehensive statutory assessments (including Child in Need and Care Proceedings) and developing holistic, multi-agency care plans under the Children Act 1989. * Safeguarding: Leading on safeguarding investigations for children with disabilities, ensuring timely intervention and appropriate protective measures are implemented. * Direct Work: Building strong, professional relationships with children and families to deliver effective direct work, promoting their involvement in decision-making. * Resource Allocation: Coordinating and reviewing specialist support packages, including short breaks, therapeutic services, and direct payments, ensuring they meet identified needs. * Statutory Reviews: Preparing and presenting reports for statutory reviews, case conferences, and court hearings. * Multi-Agency Working: Working collaboratively and effectively with partner agencies, including Health, Education, and the Voluntary Sector, to ensure seamless service delivery. * Transition Planning: Supporting young people with disabilities in their transition to adulthood and adult services. What You Bring * A relevant Social Work qualification (e.g., DipSW, CQSW, BA Hons Social Work). * Current Social Work England (SWE) registration. * Significant post-qualifying experience within a statutory Children’s Social Care setting, ideally within a CWD team. * Expert knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and the Care Act 2014, as it applies to children with disabilities. * Proven ability to manage a demanding and complex caseload, demonstrating excellent organisational and prioritisation skills
