Overview
An exciting part‑time preceptorship opportunity for a newly qualified midwife at Bronglais General Hospital, Aberystwyth. The role is 22.5 hours per week with some hours based at Carmarthen to broaden experience. Expect day, night and weekend shifts to gain confidence across full maternity care.
Responsibilities
* Provide day, night and weekend maternity care as the third midwife on each shift.
* Deliver antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care across all settings.
* Work within the Day Assessment Unit (DAU) and triage services.
* Observe and gain experience in the on‑site neonatal room.
* Collate and communicate detailed assessment information to the multidisciplinary team.
* Participate actively in the structured 12‑month Midwifery Preceptorship Programme.
Preceptorship Programme
The 12‑month programme includes dedicated study days, preceptor‑supported shifts and support from experienced midwives to develop the skills and confidence required to progress through the gateway to Band 6.
Qualifications
* Newly qualified midwife with National Midwifery Council (NMC) registration.
* Accountable for own clinical practice and competent in basic midwifery skills.
* Willingness to work part‑time (22.5 hours per week) and flexible to some hours at Carmarthen.
* Desirable: Ability to communicate in Welsh; Welsh language capabilities are welcome and supported.
