Main duties of the job

Service Line: Mental Health Adults - PICU, Acute, and Forensic
Post: (Band 5) Occupational Therapist
Responsibilities:
* Manage care for 14 service users
* Supervise an Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA)
Reports to: Head of OT and Regional Lead OT
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Location: Cygnet Hospital Stevenage, Gravely Road, Stevenage, Herts SG1 4YS
We encourage applications from newly qualified or soon-to-be qualified Occupational Therapists. We offer a comprehensive Band 5 development program, a 12-month OT preceptorship with supervision, peer support, and regular 1:1 meetings to support your growth and confidence in your role.
The hospital operates as a medium secure unit with a wide range of therapeutic resources, including a Recovery College, ADL kitchen, gym, therapeutic garden, football pitch, and music studio. Service users are supported in developing daily living skills and community integration.
The multidisciplinary team includes nurses, psychologists, social workers, psychiatrists, OT staff, and support workers, working autonomously with supervision support.

Led by occupational therapy directors, supporting over 150 OTs and 300 OT support staff, we promote evidence-based practice and service development, with opportunities for involvement in specialist interests and service improvement initiatives.
