Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a Product Owner – EDU Functions & Systems Engineering. to be based at our customer’s site in Gaydon

Our Embedded Systems Solutions department (ESS) encompasses all activities outlined under the Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) process framework, including systems engineering, software engineering, coding, and all levels of functional testing. Beyond core development, ESS also integrates critical supporting processes such as project management, risk assessment, functional safety, and cybersecurity, ensuring compliance with ASPICE standards and delivering reliable, secure, and high-quality embedded systems & solutions.

The Role:

We’re looking for a strategic and technically accomplished Product Owner to lead the development of Electric Drive Unit (EDU) functional domains and systems engineering activities across gearbox control, inverter/EDU integration, and system/software-level capabilities. This leadership role involves driving model-based system design, Functional Safety (FuSa) deliverables, and team coordination across end-to-end powertrain control functions.

Area of Responsibility

Product Ownership & System Leadership

1. Own the system-level function roadmap for EDU and inverter integration, including gearbox control, software features, diagnostics, and performance targets
2. Lead a dedicated Systems Engineering squad, setting goals, priorities, and sprint outcomes aligned with vehicle program milestones
3. Act as the interface between hardware, software, safety, and validation teams, translating product needs into system requirements and architectural decisions

Model-Based Systems Engineering

4. Develop functional and logical architectures using SysML, MSOSA, and simulation-based validation workflows
5. Maintain system and software-level traceability using structured MBSE platforms (., Rhapsody, Enterprise Architect)
6. Define and decompose requirements using TRM methodology and manage system baselines in tools like X-ray, DOORS, Polarion

Functional Safety (FuSa)

7. Lead ISO 26262 safety lifecycle activities for combined EDU/inverter systems, including HARA, ASIL allocation, and TSC development
8. Ensure appropriate safety mechanisms are captured in the architecture and validated in partnership with FuSa and validation engineers
9. Contribute to safety case development and compliance documentation for certification milestones

Feature Definition & Verification

10. Specify system and software functions for gearbox control, torque blending, regen strategies, and drive mode management
11. Align functional and diagnostic strategies across inverter and EDU control domains
12. Support DVP planning, system integration testing, and V&V tracking for feature-level acceptance criteria

Knowledge / Experience

Essential

13. Experience in powertrain systems engineering, including combined EDU and inverter functional ownership
14. Demonstrated leadership in model-based systems engineering, using SysML/MSOSA methodologies
15. Strong experience in Functional Safety (ISO 26262) for system-level applications
16. Hands-on use of tools like TRM/X-ray, DOORS, Polarion, or other ALM platforms

Preferred Skills

17. Experience with transmission control software, torque arbitration, and driveability tuning
18. Familiarity with inverter/motor control fundamentals (., FOC, current regulation)
19. Understanding of vehicle architectures, CAN/LIN protocols, and diagnostic strategies
20. Agile mindset with experience in sprint planning, backlog ownership, and stakeholder engagement
