Administrator - North Cardiff Medical Centre

North Cardiff Medical Centre is a 7 partner teaching practice with almost 15,000 patients. The Practice team is focused on providing high quality primary care services. www.northcardiffmedicalcentre.co.uk

We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated, flexible and well organised individual to join our administrative team.

The successful candidate will be capable of providing a comprehensive, professional and confidential administrative service to the Practice. The post entails frequent contact with patients and clinicians and attention to detail is key.


Main duties of the job

RESPONSIBLE FOR:

The delivery of administrative services to ensure an effective and professional service to patients and the Practice team.

The role will be varied and will involve carrying out multiple administrative tasks.

North Cardiff Medical Centre is a progressive, 7 Partner, training Practice serving a patient list size of 15,500 over two sites. Our main site is a modern purpose built premises on the outskirts of Cardiff. These are just some of the advantages of working at North Cardiff Medical Centre. Job responsibilities

The job content includes operational and administrative support to the Practice. The successful candidate will have a good level of education, be used to dealing with work of a confidential nature, be able to use their own initiative and effectively contribute as part of a team, have excellent communication and organisational skills. Attention to detail is important as the role involves updating medical records and supporting the clinical team in their administrative duties. Previous experience in a primary care administrative position would be a distinct advantage.


Person Specification


Qualifications

* Maths (GCSE)
* IT use of Microsoft packages
* Experience
* Previous administrative experience, including use of Microsoft Office applications.
* Ability to respond flexibly to changing circumstances to ensure team goals are met.
* The ability to work independently and make decisions.
* Customer centric approach
* Skills
* Excellent organisational skills.
* Ability to communicate at all levels (oral and written).
* Evidence of using own initiative in varying circumstances.
* Able to respond to changing pressures and deadlines.
* Special Knowledge
* Working knowledge of medical terminology, excellent telephone manner.
* Personal Attributes
* A team player, motivated, conscientious, enthusiastic and reliable.
* Can manage own time and workload with minimal intervention.
* Able to operate in a changing environment, learn quickly and be flexible, adaptable and versatile.
* GCSE level 1 IT qualification or equivalent experience
* Experience
* Working in a healthcare environment
* Use of databases and/or electronic appointment systems
* Clinical Coding and summarising or appropriate training will be given.
* Personal Attributes
* Flexible approach to working hours
* Ability and experience of influencing, negotiating with and persuading others.


Experience

* Experience of working with customers or patients
* Ideally in a Healthcare environment
* Experience of working in Primary care but not essential as full training will be given.
* Experience of working in EMIS clinical system.
* Experience of working in a healthcare or customer service environment
