Job Summary
Part‑time (35 hours per week), fixed‑term role covering parental leave within the City Transport Engagement and Active Travel Team. The team promotes active travel modes in businesses, communities, and schools, aiming to increase physical activity, encourage healthy lifestyles, and improve air quality.
Responsibilities
* Help deliver the school active‑travel behaviour change programme, reported on and accredited through the Modeshift Stars platform.
* Collaborate with primary schools and internal teams to implement school travel plans and promote walking, scooting, and cycling to school.
* Lead partnership work with Modeshift on the secondary school project “Active Travel Ambassadors.”
* Manage a small group of schools across Bristol, coordinating and delivering assemblies, classroom workshops, and outdoor sessions that promote active travel, road safety, and air quality.
* Support other service projects such as School Streets, including public communication and on‑ground support during launch weeks.
* Maintain an organised, timely professional service to schools and manage a broad workload with multiple events.
* Supervise Schools Sustainable Travel Assistants and collaborate closely with them.
Qualifications
* Experience of behaviour change projects.
* Motivated, enthusiastic, and a team player.
* Degree level education or equivalent.
* Experience in partnership working within a school‑based environment.
* Understanding of monitoring techniques and ability to analyse datasets.
* Experience working confidently with groups of children.
* Subject to an Enhanced DBS Check.
