Buying Assistant

Location: Nottingham

Job Type: Full Time (Office Based)

The Role

As our Buying Assistant reporting to the Senior Buyer, you'll be supporting the Sales & Buying team in all commercial areas of both businesses to help grow the business.

You'll work work closely with Suppliers, Production, Procurement, and NPD to bring innovative food products to market - into both retailers and direct to customer through our websites.

Due to the recent success and sales growth, this newly created role of Buying Assistant offers the opportunity to develop your career with an online food retailer who supplies a great range of innovative products.

You'll be involved at every stage of the product journey, from Procurement and Inventory management through to NPD, and Production to ensure that the business plans are achieved. Tasks will include providing administrative support, managing supplier communication, raising and tracking purchase orders, and maintaining accurate product and pricing data. You'll also play an important part in managing the critical path to ensure products are developed, delivered, and launched on time.

We're looking for someone highly organised, with excellent attention to detail and confidence working with numbers and data. Strong Excel skills are a must, along with the ability to build great relationships with suppliers and colleagues. This role is well-suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is commercially aware, and has a genuine passion for products and customers.

Key responsibilities:

· Support the buying and selling processes and ensure deadlines are achieved.

· Planning, monitoring and maintaining suitable inventory levels.

· Assisting with new Product set ups for our websites and warehouse management system.

· Supporting in Stock management through ordering and raising POs ensuring an excellent level of detail accuracy.

· Build strong and progressive relationships across all levels of the company.

· Working with NPD, Compliance and Trading, to launch new products, guaranteeing these are market ready and meet required deadlines.

· Delisting products; managing the process effectively to remove SKUs from the website and mitigate stock issues, where needed.

· Liaising with suppliers, ensuring timely product receipt in the right quantities.

· Review and analyse sales data, SKU performance, identifying trends and opportunities for the business.

· Ensure accurate stock allocation across all websites.

· Support the team by tracking competitor pricing across the range, helping us remain commercially competitive and aligned with market pricing.

· Ad-hoc support across the business where required.

Key Skills Needed:

· Ability to work both independently and as a team member.

· Good interpersonal skills to build strong relationships both internally and with suppliers.

· Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

· A demonstrable passion for customer needs, and examples of where you have put the customer or clients need at the core of your role and delivery.

· A bias for action and getting tasks done.

· Good commercial awareness and business acumen.

· Ability to analyse data and act on it accordingly.

· Strong organisational skills and an ability to meet timelines in a disciplined manner.

· Strong IT and numerical skills, particularly in MS Office and Excel (Pivot tables) and Power Point, but also demonstrate an ability to understand and utilise other systems.

· Full driving licence
