As an Attendance & Behaviour Support Officer, you will play a key role in:
* Improving student attendance and punctuality
* Supporting positive behaviour and pastoral care
* Working closely with students, families, and external agencies
* Contributing to safeguarding, wellbeing, and inclusion
* Supporting the Head of Year and wider pastoral team on a daily basis
This is a hands‑on role, perfect for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and enjoys building relationships with young people and their families.
Support for Students
* Be the first point of contact for parents/carers and support the Head of Year with pastoral needs.
* Work with Attendance, Behaviour, Inclusion, and Safeguarding leads to support student progress and wellbeing.
* Intervene with inappropriate behaviour, support removal procedures, and contribute to internal isolation provision.
* Monitor equipment, uniform and punctuality, supporting interventions where needed.
* Conduct home visits, liaise with families, and support attendance action plans.
* Drive the school minibus daily to collect vulnerable students (full training provided).
* Support implementation of Trust attendance strategies, including Persistent Absence.
* Attend weekly PASS meetings and maintain high‑quality pastoral records.
Support for Curriculum
* Collaborate with staff and external professionals to support student progress.
* Carry out 1:1 behaviour modification sessions.
* Support after‑school provision and alternative education pathways.
* Assist with personal development, mental health, and wellbeing initiatives.
Support for the School Community
* Ensure calm, orderly corridors and strong student punctuality across the day.
* Carry out daily break and lunch duties.
* Attend pastoral meetings and generate reports using Arbor, CPOMS, and Class Charts.
* Encourage student leadership and uphold school values.
* Support school events and undertake First Aid training.
Essential
* 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) grade C/4 or above including English & Maths
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Strong organisational skills and self‑motivation
* Ability to build positive relationships with students and families
* Competent ICT skills
* A flexible, proactive approach and willingness to contribute fully to school life
* Commitment to safeguarding and equality
* Clean driving licence
Desirable
* Experience working in a school or pastoral environment
* Experience with outside agencies or vulnerable students
* Knowledge of safeguarding procedures
* Experience organising events or supporting alternative provision
* CEFR B1+ English spoken competency (if applicable)
