Sustaining Engineer –
We are recruiting for a Sustaining Engineer to support a technically complex, safety-critical product platform and its associated accessories within a regulated engineering environment.
This position acts as the primary engineering support contact for an established product line, ensuring ongoing product reliability, resolving technical challenges, and supporting the introduction of new variants into production.
The role sits at the interface of mechanical, electronic, and software-integrated systems, requiring a strong cross-disciplinary mindset.
The Role
You will take ownership of product sustainment and provide hands-on technical support across engineering, production, and quality functions.
Key responsibilities include:

Driving continuous improvement across an established electro-mechanical product range
*
Supporting the transition of new products and product updates into manufacturing
*
Leading fault investigation and structured problem-solving across mechanical assemblies, electronics, and embedded systems
*
Resolving complex, multi-disciplinary engineering issues impacting production or field performance
*
Supporting quality investigations, supplier technical queries, and component obsolescence management
*
Managing engineering change processes and configuration updates
*
Collaborating with manufacturing and process engineering teams to optimise build and test processes
*
Designing or specifying tooling, fixtures, and production support equipment
*
Contributing to new product development activities including design reviews and validation support
What We’re Looking For
Education
*
Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Systems Engineering, or similar (or equivalent practical experience)
Experience & Skills
*
Background in the development or manufacture of technically complex products incorporating electronics and software
*
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical documentation, and product specifications
*
Experience working within configuration control and formal engineering change environments
*
Strong analytical and fault-finding capability across integrated systems
*
Experience balancing production support with longer-term product improvement initiatives
*
High awareness of safety, quality, and compliance within regulated industries
*
Experience with sensing, control, or embedded systems would be beneficial
*
CAD experience (SolidWorks desirable)
*
Confident communicator able to work effectively within cross-functional teams
