The purpose of the Performance Optimisation Expert role is as follows: Responsible for the management and use of management platforms across Infrastructure including Architecture, Design and deployment Services Covered: Monitoring, Performance Tuning, Orchestration, Analytics, Reporting Ownership of processes and procedures agreed to effectively manage the global environment between various stakeholders and contributing parties Engineering of various technology solutions within the Performance Engineering function eg. Monitoring, Performance Tuning, etc. Manage the development, evolution, and delivery of Performance Engineering product roadmaps Keep up-to-date with Industry developments and initiatives to ensure they are incorporated into the product roadmaps, when approved Ensuring Monitoring & Optimisation is built into the On-Prem and Cloud designs from inception and throughout the solutions lifecycle Working across all Engineering towers to ensure a consistent approach to developing and deploying solutions from a Monitoring perspective Proactively work with Architects, Security teams, Risk and Compliance and other engineering teams to develop enterprise Monitoring principals and strategies that support the business development initiatives Incorporate operational 'lessons learnt' into designs and standards Work with team members within Infrastructure to transition solutions into operational run status Provide 'Level 3' operational support to infrastructure services in the event of major incidents or complex technical issues Accurate estimation, resource management and prioritisation of project, continuous improvement and proactive maintenance tasks Drive ongoing out-tasking to appropriate internal/external providers to ensure maximum efficiency All assigned development, project, continuous improvement and proactive maintenance tasks are completed as required and progress reported, including risks and issues, to the relevant Project Manager and/or Infrastructure Engineering Lead Responsible for knowledge management to ensure effective/skilled response to address Service Requests and Incident tickets What will your essential accountabilities include? Part of the global Infrastructure Operations team responsible for the overall performance and availability of AXA IT Infrastructure. Hands on technical support work is expected within this role. To operate as an effective team member by supporting colleagues and contributing in the delivery and achievement of overall team and business objectives Responsible for the configuration, daily management and optimisation of specific technologies / solutions / service, as per the Technical Owner matrix Responsible for monitoring specification for owned technologies - work with Monitoring Team to ensure optimal monitoring thresholds for end to end service in place Ensure/perform regular health checks of the production environment for owned technologies and ensure appropriate monitoring Identify and maintain a list of all BAU tasks required to keep the environment functioning optimally. Maintain operational documentation Keep abreast of technology updates and other associated products that could enhance use of owned technologies, and feed these into Infrastructure Engineering team for consideration on Technology Roadmap / Demand Management process. Work with the Infrastructure Engineering team (as required) to organise appropriate technology updates / future state sessions. Contribute to IS strategy planning activities Provide management reports regarding capacity, availability and any other key operational metrics Identify opportunities to drive the automation of support and maintenance activities to improve efficiency, and feed these into Continuous Service Improvement Plan Accurately estimate activities for Project, Continuous Improvement and proactive maintenance tasks Effective management of incidents/requests and escalations. Feed into Major Incident Management and Problem Management processes as required Raise and implement Changes to the Production Estate. Provide peer review where requested for other Engineer changes Identify, qualify and test patches that are relevant to the production environment Identify and manage any single points of failure (risk, continuous improvement, knowledge management) Formal risk articulation (manage from entry to closure) Work with and manage relevant suppliers for owned technologies. Attend supplier service review meetings Involvement in regular DR Testing. Ensure DR documentation is maintained and accurate You will report to the Head of Infrastructure Performance Engineering & Analytics, Service Delivery & Governance. Your Profile We're looking for someone who has these abilities and skills: At least 5 years of in depth technical experience with Infrastructure Monitoring platforms, ideally in a highly vendor leveraged delivery model. A dynamic, results-driven, articulate customer focused professional who possesses exceptional oral and written communication skills. Influencing and interpersonal skills in order to effectively manage Infrastructure solutions coupled with strong customer interaction skills. ITIL Foundations Certification required. Candidates must possess a deep understanding of process costs as well as the ability to effectively work with Service Providers to ensure operations and compliance with agreed upon deliverables and service levels. Identifies the issue, thinks it through sequentially, and differentiates symptoms from cause. Gathers facts and other appropriate resources needed to resolve problems. Experience with root cause analysis and strong collaboration, negotiation and problem resolution skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas in easy to comprehend business terms. Demonstrated ability to assess internal client needs to creatively approach solutions and how to decide and influence appropriate courses of action.
