We’re looking for a creative, reliable, and people-focused Learning Assistant to support our arts programmes for children and young people in Loughborough.

About the Role
You'll assist in delivering hands-on, inclusive creative workshops for children and young people, helping set up sessions, co-facilitating with artists, documenting activities, and creating a welcoming atmosphere.
This is an ideal role for someone who:
* Has experience working with children or young people
* Is passionate about creativity and inclusion in the arts
* Wants to build their skills in learning and engagement
This is a freelance opportunity (Aug 2025 - June 2026), totalling 22 days (165 hours) of work. You'll be paid £15.00 per hour, in line with our flat pay structure (total pay: £2,475). You'll work closely with our Learning Programmer to help deliver Art Club and Lboro Earlies.

Modern Painters, New Decorators is an artist-led organisation with a gallery, studios, shop and micro-bakery in Loughborough. In September 2025, we're opening a new public arts venue at Aumberry Gap, making now an exciting time to join our team.

Job Requirements
Person Specification:
* Experience working with children/young people.
* Commitment and awareness of the needs of participants who have a wide range of identities and experiences, engaging in a respectful manner with a responsible and enabling approach.
* Confidence in engaging children and young people, able to find points of connection and nurture creativity.
* Commitment to ensuring access to arts and cultural learning through accessible and inclusive practice.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Good administrative, organisational, and planning skills with the ability to work to timescales.
* Interest in or knowledge of contemporary art and creative practice.
* A positive, flexible and self-motivated approach.
* Willingness to adapt and take initiative in an artist-led organisation.
* Reliability, punctuality, and professionalism.
* Confident in managing workloads with effective timekeeping.
* Awareness and empathy for the dynamics of a small, busy team with competing demands.
Job Responsibilities
* Support the delivery of engaging creative workshops in collaboration with the Learning Programmer.
* Communicate key ideas of content for workshops and exhibitions in accessible and meaningful ways.
* Assist with the preparation, setup and takedown of workshops, including furniture.
* Contribute and support the development of inclusive, welcoming, safe environments and activities.
* Promote positive behaviour and respond calmly to any challenges.
* With the support of the Learning Programmer, supervise Volunteers.
* Support the purchase and allocation of resources, taking into consideration their environmental impact.
* Support the Learning Programme with documentation, monitoring and evaluation.
* Complete relevant training and meetings to support the organisation's values, your role and development.
* Contribute to Safeguarding practice, ensuring Safeguarding policy and principles are a core part of the planning and delivery of programmes.
* Work in line with all organisational policies
