Advanced Podiatrist – Therapeutic Footwear
We are seeking a Specialist Podiatrist specialising in therapeutic footwear or an Orthotist to join our dynamic NHS Diabetic and High Risk Foot Service.
This post is a countywide post based in Northamptonshire, working as part of the multi-disciplinary team to provide a high-quality clinical therapeutic footwear service.
Main duties of the job
Assess, diagnose, and manage the on-going care of an agreed caseload of patients within the specialist area, including those with diabetic foot disease, circulatory and neurological deficits, and complex medical conditions.
* Care will be provided to patients with late/end stage complications arising from diabetic foot disease and inflammatory arthropathies requiring therapeutic footwear provision.
* Care will be provided to patients with circulatory and neurological deficits and reduced tissue viability, e.g., pressure ulcers, requiring specialist off-loading and footwear.
* Care will be provided to patients with complex medical conditions, e.g., Peripheral vascular disease, which potentially has a major impact on foot pathology.
The post holder will be expected to have an identified caseload of patients, the majority of which will be for patients with diabetes and associated complications, and to undertake all associated communication with other healthcare professionals and the diabetes multi-disciplinary team.
Prescribe therapeutic stock and modified stock footwear, advise on, and be involved in made-to-measure footwear provision, and participate in the education, training, and supervision of other staff in association with therapeutic footwear.

Knowledge and Experience
* Health Profession Council registered Podiatrist
* Evidence of appropriate specialist postgraduate development
* Postgraduate experience/clinical expert in the musculoskeletal field, including postgraduate education to Masters level
* Understand the impact of clinical targets and development of local services
* Leadership training
Skills and Abilities
* Demonstrate a high level of clinical practice working with complex/high-risk patient groups
* Proven problem solver within footwear provision
