Green Synergy is looking for a Gardens Co-ordinator to develop, promote and deliver a programme of community gardening and growing on the Oasis Garden, Fiskerton Road, Cherry Willingham to join our charity at an exciting time in the life of the garden.

The role involves year-round gardening delivery supporting the restoration of the garden through funded programmes as well as overseeing the planting and growing programmes on the garden. We are looking for a professional with horticultural knowledge and qualifications who is experienced in co-ordinating garden programmes, supporting volunteer activities, supporting service users and visitors within community programmes and co-ordinating gardening activities safely.

Green Synergy and The Oasis Garden

Green Synergy and Cherry Willingham Parish Council are working towards an agreement whereby Green Synergy will take over the running of the OASIS therapeutic garden located on Cherry Fields for a period of 25 years. The provisional operating date is 1st October 2025.

The aim is to restore the community garden through a phased programme of projects and programmes supported by staff, volunteers and our local communities to enable people to socialise, learn and thrive through gardening and social therapeutic horticulture.

Job Summary: The role is responsible for developing, promoting and delivering a programme of community gardening and growing on the Oasis Garden, Fiskerton Road, Cherry Willingham.

The Gardens Co-ordinator would plan, organise, and oversee the maintenance and development of The Oasis Garden, ensuring it operates in a safe, functional, and rewarding manner for particpants, volunteers and visitors.

Key responsibilities include co-ordinating garden activities and maintenance to an agreed plan, supporting and coordinating volunteers, adhering to health and safety regulations, planning planting and crop rotations, developing and promoting community engagement and events, communications and marketing of the garden.

This will be in line with funder requirements and Green Synergy Policies and Procedures.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in horticulture and gardening, demonstrating proficiency in co-ordinating people and activities, handling equipment and tools. This role requires a blend of practical skills and organisational abilities to ensure the smooth running of day-to-day activities.

Purpose of Role:

· The role is responsible for developing, promoting and delivering a programme of community gardening and growing on the Oasis Garden, Fiskerton Road, Cherry Willingham.

· To work as part of the charity's team in carrying out day-to- day activities and tasks in the garden, which will include session delivery

· Co-ordinate the Oasis Garden's planting and growing programme.

· Co-ordinate the garden's volunteer sessions including garden inductions and providing positive experiences for volunteers and visitors.

· Developing and delivering community garden events, workshops and activities to generate income to sustain the Oasis Garden operations.

· Proactively engaging with our local communities, organisations, charities and community groups to positively raise the profile of Green Synergy's charitable work.

· Organising trips and and additional activities to enable our community to experience different spaces and places.

Core Responsiblities

· Responsibility for co-ordinating The Oasis Garden's daily garden activities and operations, maintenance and development inline with Green Synergy's sustainability values and policy.

· Garden Co-ordination:

* Plan, develop, and maintain The Oasis Garden through tasks like sowing, planting, weeding, pruning, pest control, and selecting suitable crops and cultivars for planting.

* Oversee planting programmes, propogating, harvesting and efficient sale of produce.

· Volunteer & Community Coordination:

* Co-ordinate the volunteers, corporate volunteers, community partners and community members supporting the garden operations, guide them in their garden routines, facilitating meetings, and promoting their involvement in the garden's planning and activities.

· Equipment & Resource Management:

* Maintain and ensure the correct use of garden tools and equipment, and procure necessary tools, materials, cultivars and seeds.

· Health & Safety Compliance:

* Implement and adhere to health and safety procedures and legislation, ensuring all activities are conducted safely and any incidents are reported.

* Conduct and review garden risk assessments as required.

· Project Planning & Execution:

* Coordinate projects related to the garden, co-ordianting timelines, budgets, and resources to achieve project goals.

* Contribute to the production of project reports and funding bids

* Attending meetings relevant to funders and project delivery.

· Organisational Values and Behaviours

* Support the Green Synergy wider staff team with promotion and coordination of events and activities.

* Be responsible for effectively communicatiing the Oasis Garden's events, programmes and actrivities through Green Synergy's social media platforms and website and e-newsletter.

* Work effectively and considerately with other Green Synergy employees and volunteers to promote the aims and objectives of Green Synergy and present a positive image of Green Synergy to members and the public.

General Duties

· Work effectively and collaboratively with other staff and volunteers.

· Abide by Green Synergy's values, policies and endeavour to always follow good working practices, paying particular attention to Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Equality Diversity and Inclusion and Green Synergy's values.

· To undertake any other reasonable duties to support the charitable activities of Green Synergy, such as fundraising or community engagement events.

· To proactively promote Green Synergy's values and act as a positive ambassador for the charity.

Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract

Contract length: 12 months

Pay: £22,406.00 per year

Expected hours: 28 per week
