Role
Automation Maintenance Engineer, Warrington Mail Centre, Orion Boulevard, Warrington, WA5 3XA. The role ensures the smooth running of our cutting-edge automation systems as part of Royal Mail’s major technological transformation toward a predominantly mechanised parcel sortation process. This is a permanent, full-time position with a salary of £53,195 per annum plus ad-hoc shift allowance, 22.5 days annual leave plus bank holidays and a defined contribution pension scheme. Hours: 40 per week, with shift attendance; usual hours 07:00 to 15:30 Monday to Friday, with ad-hoc shift cover and some weekend work as required.
Responsibilities
* Keep our automation assets performing at their best through preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance.
* Collaborate with the Engineering Manager and team leaders, completing reports and logging faults.
* Work closely with the Maintenance Team Leader to ensure remedial works, machine performance work, Mods, Mandatory checks, SMPs are carried out in a timely manner.
* Diagnose and resolve automation breakdowns quickly to keep operations flowing.
* Monitor performance and work with stakeholders to boost output.
* Take ownership of Continuous Improvement projects, from concept to implementation, focused on enhancing machinery performance in the Hub/Mail Centre.
About you
* Qualified in electrical and mechanical engineering (minimum ONC Electrical Engineering / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
* Experienced in maintaining automation equipment, ideally with PLC knowledge.
* Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation.
* A proactive team player who can also work independently.
* Full UK manual driving licence (for occasional travel to other sites).
