Maintenance Engineer – Temp to Perm
Location: Aston, Birmingham
Pay Rate: £22 per hour
Working hours: 40 hours per week | Sunday to Thursday | 11:00am – 7:30pm
We are recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join a food manufacturing site based in Aston, Birmingham. This is a temp‑to‑perm opportunity offering long‑term stability and progression within a growing operation.
This is a 50/50 split role, combining hands‑on technical maintenance with management and coordination responsibilities.
The Role of a Maintenance Engineer
You will play a key role in keeping production running efficiently by:
* Performing planned preventive and corrective maintenance
* Troubleshooting mechanical and electrical faults
* Minimising downtime and restoring production quickly
* Working on food production machinery and associated equipment
* Ensuring full compliance with food safety and safety standards including GMP and HACCP
📋 50% Management & Coordination
Alongside technical duties, you will:
* Plan maintenance schedules and factory shutdowns
* Supervise maintenance technicians and external contractors
* Manage spare parts inventory
* Support control of the maintenance budget
* Ensure all maintenance activities meet health, safety, and food industry regulations
Machinery
You will be responsible for maintaining food production and packaging machinery within a manufacturing environment. Experience within a food factory setting is highly advantageous.
Requirements
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment (food manufacturing preferred)
* Strong mechanical and electrical fault‑finding skills
* Experience working within GMP and HACCP standards
* Previous supervisory or team leadership experience advantageous
* Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills
