Graduate - Autism Support Assistant
A specialist school located in Trowbridge is looking for a motivated graduate to join their team full-time as an Autism Support Assistant. You will support pupils with Autism, helping create a nurturing and inclusive environment where students can thrive. This role is ideal for those interested in psychology, neurodiversity, and mental health.
As an Autism Support Assistant, you will support pupils on the autistic spectrum both in and outside the classroom, providing 1:1 and group support alongside teachers, therapists, psychologists, and other specialists. You will assist in delivering interventions focused on emotional regulation and self-expression.
The school employs creative methods such as music, cooking, drama, dance, and art to engage students. Sensory learning and restorative practices are integral to the curriculum, and you will help implement these and other therapeutic techniques used in child psychology.
Successful candidates will be proactive, versatile, and confident, making decisions that best support students. This is a valuable opportunity for those interested in Psychology, Behaviour Therapy, or Occupational Therapy. You will gain experience working with children with autism, learning difficulties, and communication needs, alongside a multidisciplinary team of therapists and SEN specialists.
