Freelance Technical Sales Consultant Solar PV

Location: Glasgow & surrounding areas | Company based in Hamilton
We are seeking a Freelance Technical Sales Consultant to support our entry and growth within the Solar PV market. This is a flexible, customer-facing technical role covering surveys, system design, and sales support, helping deliver accurate and compliant Solar PV proposals.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Site Surveys
* Conduct domestic Solar PV surveys across Glasgow and surrounding areas
* Assess roof suitability, shading, and orientation
* Identify inverter and battery locations
* Review existing electrical infrastructure
* Collect measurements and site photographs
System Design (OpenSolar)
* Design Solar PV systems using OpenSolar
* Produce layouts and generation estimates
* Support inverter and battery selection
* Prepare customer proposals for review
Sales & Customer Support
* Attend customer meetings and consultations
* Present and explain system designs
* Support the sales process through quotation stage
* Respond to technical customer queries
DNO / G98 / G99 Awareness
Working understanding of:
* G98 vs G99 requirements
* Export limitations
* Required application data
* Inverter, battery, and phase requirements
Internal Responsibilities (Managed In-House)
* Final pricing and design approval
* DNO submissions
* MCS compliance
* Installation scheduling and procurement
* Project management

* Previous Solar PV experience
* Competent in OpenSolar
* Strong customer-facing communication skills
* Knowledge of domestic and commercial PV systems
* Understanding of DNO processes
* Technically minded with a sales ability
* Self-motivated and independent
Package
* Freelance role with flexible working
* Competitive day rate (based on experience)
* Commission: up to 10% of all sales generated
