About the Company
WeDo have partnered with a high-growth FinTech scale-up reshaping embedded finance. They’re entering “scale-up” phase and now need two Engineering Managers to add maturity as they scale.
About the Role
This is a hands-off technical leadership role. You’ll join a product-aligned squad and be responsible for owning delivery, guiding architecture, and enabling engineers to do their best work. This role is ideal for someone who has a passion about clean code but whose true strength lies in technical direction, people development and management, and building high-performing teams. You’ll be given space to embed, observe, and understand before driving change. That’s intentional as leadership here is about enablement, not ego.
You’ll lead a team of 6 IC Full Stack Software Engineers. Testing is owned by the Engineers, and Platform is owned by the Platform team. That said, CI/CD pipelines are owned by the team.
Experience Needed
* You’ve led a team before in at least 2 organisations. You’ll know what good & bad looks like.
* You can speak to trade-offs, design patterns, and architecture decisions in production environments
* You’re pragmatic about process, calm under pressure, and low ego
* You have line managed high performing teams, 1to1's, promotions etc
* You’ve worked in high-paced startup or scale-up environments
* Bonus points for experience with credit/lending products or integrations
Tech Stack
* Backend: C# .NET (event-driven, domain-driven design)
* Frontend: Angular
* Infrastructure: AWS (EKS), Docker, Terraform (Azure background also welcome)
* Databases: MongoDB, PostgreSQL
* Platform is mature and stable and most work is forward-facing (new features and integrations)
Interview Process
* Intro Interview – with Director of Engineering
* System Design Task – assess architecture and design decisions
* Leadership & Delivery Assessment – focused on people, process, and execution
* Cross-functional Meet & Greet – with Product Managers and VP of Engineering
