Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Playgroup Assistant to join our team to support children aged 2 years 10 months- 4 years. This role is ideal for individuals who are enthusiastic, reliable and caring. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting daily operations, ensuring a fun, safe and educational environment for children, and fostering effective communication with parents and staff. The hours are term time. Monday, Tuesday/ Thursday and Friday No weekends and off school holidays)
Duties
* Support the planning and delivery of age-appropriate play and learning activities
* Help set up and pack away toys, equipment, and resources before and after sessions
* Supervise children during indoor and outdoor play to ensure safety and well-being
* Promote positive behavior and social interaction among children
* Assist with snacks, toileting, and hygiene routines as required
* Maintain a clean and tidy play environment
* Build positive relationships with children, parents, and staff
* Observe and record children's development in line with early years curriculum
* Ensure that safeguarding and health & safety policies are followed at all times
* Participate in team meetings and relevant training opportunities
* Experience
* 6 months previous experience working with children in a nursery or childcare environment is essential.
* A caring, patient and enthusiastic attitude
* Good communication and interpersonal skills
* Understanding of child development and early years development
* Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practices
* Ability to work as part of a team.
Qualifications
NVQ 3 in childcare or equivalent
NVQ 2 in childcare will be considered if accompanied with over 1 years paid experience.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: £12.21 per hour
Expected hours: 22.5 per week
