About the role
We are seeking caring, motivated and enthusiastic Healthcare Support Workers to join our Older Adults Specialist Care Team, supporting individuals living with dementia within a multi‑disciplinary environment.
Successful candidates will demonstrate empathy, reliability and commitment to maintaining dignity and respect for the people we care for. Previous experience working with those diagnosed with dementia is desirable but not essential; induction, training and opportunities for personal and professional development—including individual supervision and a development review—will be provided. Shifts run over a 24‑hour basis including weekends and bank holidays, so a flexible approach is key. Basic computer skills, verbal and written communication are essential.
Work environment
Birch Avenue Nursing Home provides 40 nursing‑home beds for people with complex dementia. The Registered Provider and owner is South Yorkshire Housing Association, and we work in partnership with Sheffield Health Partnership University. The focus of the home is improvement and empowerment for the service user to engage in a quality life experience.
We are passionate about providing the very best care to the people we support, and we are looking for amazing people who share this passion. Our staff, service users, carers and families come from diverse backgrounds and have expertise and stories to share. It is important that you feel supported, that your colleagues are as passionate as you are, and that your health and wellbeing are taken care of.
For those interested in developing their career, we offer a range of training and education opportunities, including apprenticeships, work experience, placements and the chance to get involved in research. We are proud of the difference we make to people's lives each and every day, and if you’d like to be part of this, we would love to have you with us.
