Overview
Location: Remote, hybrid or any Citizens Advice New Forest office. Citizens Advice New Forest has an opportunity for a Debt Adviser to join its debt advice team. The Debt Adviser will provide information and advice to people in the New Forest who are experiencing profound difficulties in managing their financial problems. The advice will primarily be given by telephone appointments; however, advice can also be given face-to-face and by email. This project, funded through the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS), has been created to meet the increased demand as people deal with the cost of living crisis with the objectives of improving their debt situation and their mental well being.
Location: Remote, hybrid or any Citizens Advice New Forest office; we will consider a fully remote position for a fully qualified debt adviser.
Compensation and hours
* Pay: £26,300 FTE (£9,819 pro rata). Salary review on successful completion of probation.
* Hours: Part-time 14 hours per week
Responsibilities
The role provides information and advice to people experiencing financial difficulties, primarily by phone, with opportunities for face-to-face and email advice as needed. The adviser will support clients to improve their debt situation and well-being as part of a MaPS-funded project.
Requirements
* Passionate about helping people across the New Forest struggling with debt;
* A good listener, able to understand an individual’s needs and propose solutions to help them manage their finances;
* A great communicator, full of empathy, and able to work with people in difficult situations;
* A self-starter with a can-do attitude.
This role would suit an individual with a debt advice background; however, we would also be keen to hear from candidates who have transferable skills and are willing to undergo training in debt advice.
