Salary: £36,500 full-time p/a paid pro rata 28 hours p/w.

Contract: Permanent.

Location: Home based. Regular Teams and face-to-face meetings with travel to Leicester, Nottingham, and locations across the East Midlands required.

Hours: Part-time 28 hours a week (subject to negotiation). Full-time week is 37.5 hours.

Working days: Open to discussion, flexible hours.

Holidays: 25 days full-time pro rata. Day off for your birthday. Additional leave during Christmas closure period.

About PASIC

PASIC is a growing charity supporting families of children and young people with cancer across the East Midlands. We provide emotional, practical, and social support for around 500 families whose children are treated by CYPICS – the NHS Children and Young Person’s Integrated Cancer Service. Our Family Support Workers offer remote and in person support on the children’s cancer wards at Nottingham and Leicester Children’s Hospital. We are the only charity offering ongoing support from diagnosis, through treatment and beyond for the whole family, helping families feel less alone in the toughest of times.

Role Overview

We’re recruiting a forward thinking, strategic and compassionate Head of Family Support to lead the development of our support services delivered by our team of Family Support Workers to families of children and young people with cancer. This is a newly created role and a key position in our small, impactful charity.

We’re looking for someone with a strong background in family support, health or social care, excellent people and communication skills, and a genuine commitment to improving the lives of families facing childhood cancer.

The post holder will have direct line management responsibility for our team of Family Support Workers and Family Services Co-ordinator, providing leadership across service development, staff wellbeing, safeguarding, partnership engagement, and impact reporting. They will be responsible for ensuring that the team is supported through adequate training and supervision.

Partnership building with organisations and professionals will also form a part of this role and the post holder will build strong relationships with stakeholders across the health, social care and voluntary sectors.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Service Development

* Lead the development of PASIC’s family support services to ensure they are inclusive, evidence-informed, outcome-focused, and family-centred.
* Identify and implement opportunities for innovation and growth.
* Oversee the family support budget and develop annual service spending plans in line with strategic priorities and budgets.
* Develop and regularly review team policies, procedures, and guidance to ensure high standards and consistency.
* Implement strong systems for monitoring, evaluation, and impact reporting to drive service improvement and meet funder expectations.
* Make effective use of data reports from our CRM system (Salesforce) and streamlined processes to improve efficiency and enhance service delivery.
* Represent PASIC at strategic meetings with NHS Trusts and external stakeholders.

·Collaborate with the fundraising team to align service delivery with funding applications and impact reports.

·Work closely with the CEO and Head of Fundraising to develop relationships with other organisations and suppliers to extend our services, and increase reach to children and families.

Team Leadership and Operational Management

·Overall line management responsibility and support for the Family Support Team including sickness reporting and monitoring, performance reviews and appraisals.

·Working with the CEO, provide effective operational and risk management of our family support services offer.

·Lead on the support and supervision of staff facilitating and championing a model of reflective practice across the organisation and a collaborative team culture.

·Responsibility to ensure excellent practice in terms of safeguarding and incident escalation and reporting. Lead on delegated safeguarding tasks to ensure a culture of safeguarding is embedded across the charity.

·Ensure that processes for monitoring, measurement and impact reporting are embedded in all family support services work.

·Report on areas of responsibility to the CEO, providing reports and information as required.

·Ensure that consistent and effective records are kept on all Family Support Services activity, in line with monitoring systems and our data privacy guidelines.

* Lead on team development, training, supervision, and staff wellbeing.
* Foster emotionally resilient and inclusive working practices.

Family and Community Engagement

* Attend PASIC events, family days, and activities as required.
* Ensure services are shaped by family experiences through meaningful engagement and feedback.
* Promote accessibility, equality, and cultural sensitivity in service delivery.
* Respond constructively and compassionately to family feedback and complaints.

General

·Carry out administrative duties as needed to support the work of the wider PASIC team.

·Provide regular updates to CEO and attend team meetings as appropriate.

·On occasion you may need to work outside of normal office working hours either due to travel requirements or to attend meetings and/or events.

·To adopt a positive approach to personal and professional development, engaging in regular one to one meetings, and an annual performance review with the CEO.

·Carry out any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the post as requested by your line manager.

Person Specification

Essential

* Ability to lead, develop and motivate staff within family support, healthcare, children’s services or a related field.
* Understanding of the challenges faced by families of children and young people with cancer or complex health conditions.
* Experience managing staff or volunteers and building high-performing, resilient, compassionate teams. Knowledge and experience of safeguarding practices and responsibilities.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication and partnership-building skills.
* Budget management skills and financial awareness.
* Keeping records and producing reports.
* Working to deadlines Highly organised, self-motivated and able to manage multiple priorities.
* Knowledge of data protection and confidentiality protocols.
* Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
* Ability to develop and maintain relationships internally and externally. Excellent IT skills (including Microsoft Office and digital comms platforms).
* Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work-related travel.

Desirable

* Experience of delivering services to children with life-limiting or long-term health conditions.
* Experience working with statutory services(NHS, social care, education).
* Experience contributing to funding applications or reporting for grants/contracts.
* Project management skills, including development and implementation of projects.
* Experience of using a CRM system. Monitoring and evaluation and use of data to inform practice.

Additional Information

* This role is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.
* You must be eligible to work in the UK.
* Occasional evening or weekend working may be required to attend events or meetings; time off in lieu is offered.

Please note: This role is not suitable for parents/carers of children currently receiving PASIC support, parents who have been bereaved in the last 5 years, or where a child’s treatment ended less than 5 years ago. This ensures the families we support receive the best possible care without any potential conflict of interest.
