We are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our Economy and Infrastructure (E&I) finance team at Solihull Council. This finance team provides support across a diverse range of Council service areas which include Environmental Services, Highways, Customer Services, Regulatory Services, Stronger Communities, Housing, Arts, Libraries, Planning and Economic Development.
As Assistant Accountant you will be responsible for:
* Delivery of on-going financial support and advice to services in the E&I Directorate throughout the financial cycle, including support with budget planning and monitoring, current and longer term forecasting and year end processes;
* Provision of financial or technical advice and support to help maintain and/or develop systems and processes to facilitate delivery of effective services and delivering specific projects and priorities.
* Provision of financial data to support grant claims and returns;
* Working pro-actively with service areas to resolve queries.
You will have:
* Five GCSEs including Maths and English grades A*-C or 4-9 (or equivalent Level 2 qualifications)
* MAAT qualification (or equivalent)
* Experience of working in a performance driven professional finance environment
* Experience of preparing budgets, monitoring and forecasting and/or financial modelling/analysis and the reconciliation of complex data
* The ability to deal with a range of internal and external stakeholders, up to and including senior management.
