The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Biomedical Scientist to join our busy, friendly and professional Clinical Chemistry Team. This exciting post would be ideal for scientists with multi-discipline experience or for those looking to expand their current knowledge base. Further training is always encouraged and supported.
This is a full time post of 37.5 hours per week across a 24/7 working week including nights and weekends.
Main duties of the job
The Biomedical Scientist will work as a key member of the team, helping to deliver a continuously improving and high quality service.
As the principal provider of emergency, acute, specialist and community healthcare, the post holder is expected to support the service by participating in the 24/7 shift system.
The current Chemistry Department comprises two laboratories: an automated lab for routine and urgent work that processes approximately 3,000 samples a day using Abbott Alinity analyzers with a GLP track system; and a special assay laboratory that employs a variety of methods including HPLC and ELISA to measure and monitor analytes such as metadrenalines, HbA1c, and calprotectin.
Qualifications
* Accredited BMS Degree
* HCPC registration
* E.C.D.L. or other qualifications
Experience
* Laboratory experience in the host laboratory discipline
Skills
* Able to perform complex laboratory tasks and assays
* Able to understand and deal with abnormal results
* Able to deal with IQC and EQA
* Good interpretive skills
