Job Summary
Radiopharmacy Technician/Scientist responsible for aseptic production of radiopharmaceuticals at St. Bartholomew's Hospital, ensuring GMP compliance, safety, and quality for clinical use.
Main duties of the job
This role is based at St. Bartholomew's Hospital within the Radiopharmacy Department of Barts Health. It involves aseptic preparation of radiopharmaceuticals, blood‑cell radioisotope labelling, batch manufacture, clinical trials, and quality control activities. The successful candidate will produce high‑quality radiopharmaceuticals in compliance with GMP and other regulatory standards.
Qualifications
* BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services, or a similar qualification in Science Manufacturing, or a Diploma in Nuclear Medicine, or a Scientific Degree (or equivalent).
* Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician.
* Pre‑and in‑process checking (PIPC/ACPT) training.
* ILM Level 3 in Leadership and Management or equivalent management qualification.
Experience
* Experience in a GMP/aseptic supervisory or training role.
* Relevant experience within a GMP/aseptic facility, or as a pharmacy technician, or in a radiopharmacy handling radioactive materials.
* Experience in aseptic manufacturing operations for radiopharmaceutical preparation.
* Previous managerial experience or management of junior staff.
* Experience in Quality Management Systems and Pharmacy Quality Systems.
* Experience using radiopharmacy management software, including Q Pulse.
Knowledge
* Ability to work independently and with a small team.
* Ability to prioritise work and manage time effectively.
* Strong organisational and communication skills.
* Technical aptitude and documentation accuracy.
* Ability to work under pressure, within deadlines, and follow local procedures for manual handling and hazardous materials.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
* Excellent aseptic technique and clean‑room behaviour.
* Capability to teach and coach staff.
