As our new Biology Lecturer, you will teach across a rich and varied programme offer, from A Level Biology and BTEC Science to T Level Laboratory Science and Access to HE Diploma courses, working with learners aged 16 and above across both FE and HE levels. You will bring biology and bioscience to life through engaging, inclusive teaching in both practical and theory settings, helping learners achieve strong outcomes and progress to university, employment or further study. This role carries genuine responsibility. As well as delivering across the Science curriculum, you will take on course management responsibilities within the department, playing a leadership role in shaping learner experience. What You'll Be Doing Here is a flavour of what you will be getting involved in: * Inspiring teaching: Deliver high-quality, motivating and inclusive sessions across A Level Biology, BTEC Science, T Level Laboratory Science, Access to HE Diploma and related programmes, at a range of levels and to learners of different ages and abilities. * Course leadership: Take on course management responsibilities within the Science department, contributing to the quality and consistency of learner experience across your programme areas. * Learner success: Monitor and track learner progress, maintain accurate records and statistical data, and support learners to meet assessment deadlines and achieve their full potential. * Curriculum development: Contribute enthusiastically to curriculum planning and development, individually and as part of the team, in line with college and awarding body requirements. * Pastoral support: Act as personal tutor to a group of students, monitoring attendance, liaising with parents and guardians, and supporting learners' wider progress and wellbeing. * Quality assurance: Support internal and external verification and inspection preparation, and contribute actively to the department's quality assurance processes. * Wider contribution: Participate in open days, advice and guidance events, parents evenings, enrolment and marketing activities, and contribute to the ongoing growth of the department. What You'll Bring We are looking for a knowledgeable, enthusiastic biologist who is ready to teach, lead and grow with a team that is going places. Essential * A relevant degree in Biology, Biochemistry or a closely related subject * A relevant teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE/CertEd or equivalent) * Successful teaching experience across science programmes * Experience teaching or supporting learners across a range of abilities, ages and backgrounds * Proven classroom management and administrative skills * Good IT skills and ability to contribute to the development of ILT strategies * Strong written and oral communication skills * Ability to work independently and collaboratively, under pressure and to deadlines * Commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion and safeguarding Even Better If You Have * A Master's degree in Biology, Biochemistry or a related subject * Knowledge and/or experience of Key Skills or functional skills delivery * Experience of curriculum development * Internal Verification (IV) experience or qualification * Vocational or industry experience in biology or biosciences Interview Date Tuesday 16th June 2026.
