Band 7 Patient Safety Investigator

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Corporate Quality and Safety Team for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to support the Trust's patient safety agenda. The team leads on incident management, risk and compliance, clinical audit and legal services, working closely with clinical and corporate teams across the organisation.
The successful candidate will have a clinical background, experience in clinical governance, and expertise in patient safety incident investigations and report writing. You will possess excellent communication, analytical and facilitation skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with clinical staff and managers at all levels.
A strong understanding of incident investigation processes, the national Patient Safety Strategy and the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) is essential. You will be proactive, innovative and committed to improving patient safety and quality of care across the Trust.
Main duties of the job
* Responsible for working with the Corporate Quality and Safety Team and Clinical Group Teams to lead a high-quality process for investigating and identifying learning from patient safety incidents across the organisation.
* Work with Clinical Group Representatives to identify learning and changes in practice that need to occur to prevent or reduce the likelihood of reoccurrence of similar incidents or improve the overall safety and quality of care provided.
* Act as an autonomous investigator and in conjunction with subject matter experts and clinical colleagues, escalating any identified risks to the corporate Quality and Safety Team.
* Day-to-day management of learning responses, ensuring that PSIRF investigation guidance is followed consistently and that learning responses are completed and published in a timely manner.
Person Specification
Education/Qualifications
* Registered Nurse/Midwife/AHP
* Completed the Levels 1-4 of the National Patient Safety Syllabus
Skills/Abilities
* Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff
* Ability to use electronic information databases such as EPR, CareFlow, EPRO, Cyberlab
Experience/Knowledge
* Understanding of the NHS patient safety strategy and PSIRF methodology

Salary: £55,524 to £62,652 per annum inclusive
