Position
We are looking for a Reviews Editor to join us on a part-time basis (14 hours per week). The role involves checking in with the rest of the team regularly to respond to queries and issues quickly.
The Reviews Editor will be responsible for managing four key sections of content – Equipment Reviews, Accessories, Skills, and Astrophotography Processing.
Requirements – Essential
* Good knowledge and keen interest in practical astronomy, astrophotography and/or optical equipment.
* Understanding of what makes an engaging feature for the BBC Sky at Night audience.
* Ability to generate, identify and develop strong, sound ideas for articles and identify which writers have the right expertise.
* Well organised, able to keep on top of article records and plan work up to 3 months in advance.
Requirements – Desirable
* Experience commissioning writers.
* Strong proofreading and editing skills, with excellent attention to detail.
* Contact list of writers and subject experts in amateur astronomy and astrophotography.
* Understanding of the more technical end of practical astronomy as it relates to telescope setups, and astrophotography imaging as it relates to DSLR or specialist astro cameras.
