Morson are currently recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to support the procurement department of a major international defence company. The role is a mixture of being desk based and on the production floor, where you will be a part of a team responsible for surveying all products brought in by external suppliers. It's a role with a lot of variety that requires the expertise of a seasoned Quantity Surveyor.
Based in Barrow-in-Furness you would be expected to be onsite a minimum of 3 days per week. The role is being offered on a 24 month basis with the possibility of an extension or permanent conversion. We can pay a rate of £41.41 per hour PAYE or £55.82 per hour Umbrella inside IR35.
Responsibilities
Support subcontract /outsourcing decision making.
Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks.
Responsibility for management of commercial audit trails and implementing identified risk mitigation activities and opportunity realisation activities.
Ensure that any changes to the contract are controlled in accordance with the internal change procedures.
Utilisation of understanding of SQCDP issues to reduce duplication of activities.
Management of the coherence reviews to determine the accuracy of the demarcation matrix, work scope and on-site operational activities
Identify weaknesses in approach and subsequent cost impact.
Providing support to Life Cycle costing exercises defining materials, activities and actions that will enable effective identification of full life cycle costs.
Plan, control and monitor the purchasing and/or management of supplies for key areas to ensure continuity of supply.
Lead or participate in supplier negotiations.
Produce and manage a procurement plan to capture the stakeholder requirements.
Support of cross functional initiatives including Best Practices in Managing Major Subcontracts & process improvement driven by Root Cause Analysis.
Requirements
Experience as a quantity surveyor in the Defence industry or a similar complex engineering industry.
Understands and can measure the impact potential variations such as material and labour can have on schedule.
Experience leading effective contractor management.
Demonstrate an understanding of value for money and ensures alignment to business benefit.
Know the PMBCR process.
Can assist in the identification of the most relevant terms within the contract that relate directly to emerging issues and accurate invoice payment.
Demonstrates competency in significant negotiations that delivers appropriate business arrangements.
Specialist professional qualification QS degree / APMP/ Risk Cert Level 1 or equivalent would be beneficial.
Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will need to be SC cleared or eligible for this level of clearance before starting on site
