Overview
The Citi Wealth Residential Real Estate Mortgage Underwriter serves as the primary contact for the mortgage throughout the process, from inquiry to closing, maintaining proactive communication with the Banker/Lending Advisor.
Responsibilities
* Work within the Wealth Lending Advisor team to structure and underwrite residential mortgage loans in accordance with established Product Programs.
* Assess risk-reward dynamics of credit extensions by exercising independent judgment and collaborating with Bankers/Lending Advisors and clients to meet marketing and risk management goals.
* Prepare, maintain and communicate the pipeline; obtain credit documents and clear underwriting conditions; act as primary point of contact.
* Provide regular input to Bankers, Associate Bankers and management in terms of MIS, competitive feedback, key client status reports, and promotional opportunities.
* Manage activities from applications through underwriting submission; assist with residential real estate portfolio management audits, reviews, and performance reporting; assist with residential real estate projects across portfolio and technical developments.
* Obtain relevant information from all parties in the lending cycle and function as part of a deal team, independently leading and orchestrating assigned portions of the mortgage process.
* Maintain excellent understanding of loan programs and internal/external guidelines/regulations; interpret complex financials for credit assessment; understand complex mortgage structuring.
* Assess risk in business decisions, safeguarding Citigroup, clients and assets by driving compliance with laws and regulations, and escalating or reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications
* CeMAP qualified (or equivalent).
* Strong mortgage regulatory knowledge and experience in the UK (EU knowledge preferable).
* Strong analytical, financial structuring and execution skills.
* Experience with regulatory internal and external audits beneficial.
* Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent experience.

* Ability to work under pressure and multi-task to tight deadlines.
* Good negotiation skills; strong initiative and problem-solving abilities.

Regulatory/Certification
