Cover Supervisor / Teaching Assistant Hybrid – Secondary School – Tameside
A busy and thriving secondary school in Tameside is seeking a versatile Cover Supervisor / Teaching Assistant to provide vital support both in supervising classes during teacher absence and assisting with targeted student interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise whole classes during planned and emergency teacher absences, delivering lessons prepared by teaching staff.
Manage classroom behaviour effectively to ensure a focused and respectful learning environment.
Support students with additional learning needs through small group or one-to-one interventions.
Assist teaching staff with lesson preparation and resource management.
Monitor and report on student behaviour and engagement during cover lessons.
Collaborate with teachers and SEN teams to support individual student needs.
Attend relevant meetings and training sessions to stay informed of school policies and best practices.
Candidate Requirements:
Previous experience working in a school environment, ideally in a cover supervision or teaching assistant role.
Strong classroom management and communication skills.
Adaptability and the ability to multitask effectively.
Confident in engaging with students across a range of abilities and needs.
DBS clearance or willingness to obtain prior to employment.
Term time, with flexible working hours to suit school needs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
