Job description
Our client, a leader in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a Weapon System Equipment Project Engineer to join their team. This permanent role presents an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of advanced technology and contribute to the innovative DragonFire programme, the UK's first Laser Directed Energy Weapon concept demonstrator.
DragonFire has achieved remarkable success through several highly publicised trials and is now focused on developing into a world-class, deployable air defence system. This involves pioneering technology experimentation and rapid weapon system development across key domains of Systems Engineering, including requirements, design, performance analysis, and certification.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage interfaces with the external partner both programmatically and technically
2. Oversee the acceptance and delivery of the Laser Source to final assembly, integration, and test
3. Support the functional integration of the Laser Source within the wider sub-system definition
4. Contribute to project development to continue the evolution of DragonFire
Job Requirements:
5. Experience with weapons, laser systems, and systems engineering
6. Proven record of complex sub-system delivery and integration
7. Ability to operate in the early lifecycle of a project to drive technical direction
8. Experience working with third-party suppliers and developing technical statements of work and deliverables
9. Proficient in developing complex electrical equipment or subsystems to ensure compliance with project requirements
10. Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
11. Capability to lead technical work packages alongside experienced project managers
