We are expanding our Dispensing Team, and Ouse Valley Practice (GP Surgery) is looking for a Trainee Dispenser to join our busy practice dispensary. YAs a Trainee Dispensing Assistant you will support the pharmacy team by learning to dispense medicines under supervision, handling stock, and interacting with patients in a friendly and professional manner. This role is ideal for someone embarking on a career in pharmacy support and willing to undergo training and development.
Working Hours: 22.5 per week (with the expectation of cover support for annual leave and absence)
Tuesday and Thursday hours inclusive of a 1 hour unpaid meal break)

Key Responsibilities
* Assist with receiving and interpreting prescriptions under supervision
* Learn to assemble, label, and prepare prescribed medicines safely and hygienically
* Handle pharmaceutical stock: ordering, receiving, storing, maintaining, and supplying
* Assist in handing out prescriptions and counselling/supporting patients with information as appropriate
* Adhere to all health & safety, legal, regulatory and confidentiality requirements (including Controlled Drugs procedures)
* Work as part of the pharmacy team, participating in day‑to‑day operations and maintaining high standards of customer service
What We're Looking For

* Willingness to complete the Buttercups "Support Staff Course for Dispensing Assistants" (or equivalent GPhC‑accredited training) alongside work
Training & Qualification
* The role requires you to undertake the Support Staff Course for Dispensing Assistants provided by Buttercups Training (or similar), which covers modules such as prescription handling, assembling prescriptions, pharmaceutical stock management, controlled drugs, patient counselling, clinical governance etc. Buttercups Training
* Training is delivered by blended learning: online modules, workplace‑supervised activities, virtual practice scenarios, end‑of‑module quizzes and a final test. Buttercups Training
* You will have a designated workplace training supervisor (accountable GP) to guide you and assess your progress. Buttercups Training
We use TPP Systmone as our clinical System, and full training will be given.
We have plenty of on-site parking in a rural setting.
Practice visits are welcome.
