The Head of Global Logistics is responsible for executing our global logistics operations across B2B and D2C channels, ensuring consistent, compliant, and cost effective delivery of goods from our Innovation Centre to our global partners and customers. This role leads a team of logistics and warehouse managers, oversees third party logistics partners, and plays a key role in driving operational optimisation across the business. The position ensures high performance in freight, warehousing, and delivery.
Medik8’s main Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Logistics operation is based at a single site near Aylesbury, with third party distribution networks operating globally. 3PL partners are in place for USA and Europe, and the business dispatches from Aylesbury into an extensive distributor network. The role will develop and evolve this logistics footprint to support the rapid and sustainable growth to meet the strategic business plan.
Responsibilities:
● Execution of the strategic business plan through developing the Warehousing and Logistics footprint to enable fast sustained growth.
● Identify, assess and appoint relevant partners to expand and strengthen the business Logistics Network as required globally across Business-to-Business and Direct-to-Consumer platforms.
● Provide leadership of the business Logistics and Warehousing function. This includes a well established UK operation of 32+ team members and managers, international managers and existing 3PL partners.
● Technical oversight and support of the regional logistics managers with full P&L accountability for UK based function.
● Work with regional teams to develop the optimal strategy by region, including to meet cost, capacity and performance goals, and ensure that the evolving compliance standards of the business are met.
● Prioritise Health, Safety and the Environment to ensure that our safety mission is met: ‘For everyone to go home in as good a condition as they came to work in, if not better’.
● Manage the logistics cost and forecast these to ensure budgetary compliance.
● Ensure that third party operators work in line with our brand standards and to meet our sustainability road map in alignment with our B-corp accreditation and sustainability goals.
● Working with the quality team, ensure compliance with GMP warehousing and logistics standards including to meet ISO9001, ISO22716, ISO14001, TGA and FDA accreditations.
● Ensure compliance with the required importation, storage and transportation regulations.
● Raise the performance standards of our in-house and 3PL operations to reduce risk and improve productivity.
● Drive adoption of technology and data utilisation to increase visibility, traceability and productivity across operations.
● Establishment of scorecards, tracking performance and developing contract requirements to support business growth
Essential Requirements:
● Extensive experience in global logistics leadership roles, preferably within health/beauty, Pharma or FMCG.
● Proven success sourcing and managing international logistics networks, including in-house teams and 3PLs.
● Deep understanding of freight, international shipping, warehousing, customs and logistic compliance.
● Strong track record of scaling logistics operations in high growth environments.
● Confident in managing operational costs and performance, with a solid grasp on budgets and commercial impacts .
● Strong leadership and team development skills across multiple locations and cultures
● Familiarity with GMP and FDA requirements.
● Hands on - proactive approach with strong problem solving abilities .
● Clear confident communicator who builds effective relations across teams and with partners.
● Highly organised, practical and focused on continuous improvement.
● IT literate, with the ability to adopt and leverage new systems and tools effectively.
