Salary: Up to £45,714 (dependent on qualifications and experience)
+ £1,350 Essential Car User Allowance
About the Role
Are you passionate about energy efficiency and driving carbon reduction? North Devon Homes is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Energy Lead to champion our NDH Zero Carbon Strategy. You’ll lead the development and delivery of innovative carbon-reducing schemes, such as SHDF and Warm Homes, and play a pivotal role in shaping our energy reduction and monitoring systems.
You’ll collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, undertake property surveys (with a focus on damp, mould, and ventilation), and ensure repairs are cost-effective and customer focused. Your expertise will help us deliver outstanding service and value for money, while maintaining compliance with CDM regulations and Health & Safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Lead service delivery for energy efficiency and carbon reduction initiatives.
Research, develop, and implement strategies to reduce NDH’s carbon footprint.
Collect and analyse data to inform future strategy.
Produce detailed reports, business cases, and deliver presentations to varied audiences.
Diagnose repairs, generate schedules of work, and manage customer expectations.
Monitor completion of works, audit quality, and ensure value for money.
Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and Health & Safety legislation.
Support and mentor new Property Surveyors.
Uphold North Devon Homes’ values and contribute to continuous improvement.
What we are looking for?
Degree in building studies, energy performance, or relevant trade qualification, ideally with around 5 years in a similar role, but we’re open to different pathways that demonstrate the right skills and impact.
Working towards or holding professional membership of CIOB or RICS (to be achieved within 12 months).
Detailed understanding of PAS 2035:2023 and retrofit approaches.
Experience working with contractors and monitoring performance.
Strong knowledge of building defects, fault finding, and remedy.
Demonstrable commitment to Health & Safety, especially CDM and Asbestos Awareness.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and willingness to expand IT skills.
Ability to manage projects independently and work cross-team.
Strong customer service ethos and commitment to resident involvement.
Ability to travel nationally as required and hold a clean driving licence.
