Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist (0.4 WTE) Hammersmith & Fulham ASD units.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join our Speech and Language Therapy team to work across two new primary aged ASD provisions in Brackenbury School and Wormholt School. This position offers part-time hours of 15 per week.


The post provides the opportunity to work within two brand new provisions opening in September 2026 to implement a wide range of therapeutic approaches and interventions in collaboration with education partners. Through joint planning and delivery of interventions in the classroom and through support to families you will ensure that SLT input has a functional impact for the pupils you support. You would be working alongside a senior SLT to set up a service delivery model within these schools.

We welcome applications from from band 5s looking to progress into a band 6 role or existing band 6s wishing to develop their skill sets.

The post holder will be responsible for:

• Providing a specialist service to children attending 2 ASD units for pupils aged between 4-11 years of age with ASD. The post holder will work closely with parents/carers, and staff to enable the pupils to develop their speech, language and communication skills and to access the curriculum

• To assess the needs for, develop and implement specialist Speech and Language Therapy treatment to children referred to the SLT Education service

• To provide advice to others regarding the management and care of children with communication difficulties

• To be accountable for own professional actions and recognise own professional boundaries, seeking advice from senior colleagues as appropriate

• The post holder will also provide some day-to-day supervision and peer review support to less experienced colleagues and students, including second opinions when necessary.

• The post holder will run appropriate in-service training independently for school and other staff.

• The post holder will have well developed specialist skills in a specialist area of SLCN within the broad range of speech, language and communication needs encountered within the caseload of school aged children and young people including the use of augmentative and alternative communication.

• The post holder will liaise with other colleagues across a range of statutory and non-statutory agencies.
