We’re looking for an experienced Technical Manager to take ownership of quality assurance, compliance, and sustainability across our client’s business.
This is a pivotal leadership role, working closely with the Operations Director and international teams to safeguard product integrity, ensure legal compliance, and champion ethical and environmental standards.
Job Title: Technical Manager
Salary: £45,000 - £50,000
Location: Biggleswade
Contract: Permanent, full-time
As a Technical Manager, you’ll be the guardian of quality and compliance across the full product portfolio — from concept through to final delivery. You’ll shape processes, strengthen supplier standards, and ensure that every product meets both regulatory expectations.
This role offers real scope to influence strategy, support innovation, and help the business stay ahead of regulatory change.
What You’ll Be Responsible For as a Technical Manager
* Lead and coordinate quality assurance activities across all operations and product ranges.
* Embed structured quality planning methodologies into product development and lifecycle management.
* Own supplier quality frameworks, ensuring they are effectively implemented, reviewed, and audited.
* Carry out in-depth technical evaluations, risk assessments, and supplier performance reviews.
* Act as the internal authority on product safety, legal compliance, and regulatory requirements.
* Track and interpret upcoming UK and EU legislation, advising the business on risk and impact.
* Ensure adherence to all relevant environmental and trade obligations, including packaging, waste, timber, and product stewardship regulations.
* Drive the company’s sustainability agenda, aligning with recognised schemes and internal environmental targets.
* Serve as the main point of contact for regulators, certification bodies, and industry organisations.
* Provide technical input to marketing and product teams on sourcing, range creation, and artwork approval.
* Support new product development across multiple categories.
* Advise senior leaders and operational teams, ensuring compliance responsibilities are clearly understood and consistently delivered.
