An exciting opportunity has arisen within North Kent College’s Equine department in the capacity of an Equine Riding Instructor.
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Equestrian Riding Instructor to join our curriculum team based at our Hadlow campus in Kent.
The Equine Unit at Hadlow has extensive facilities including two indoor arenas, a large outdoor arena and stabling for 64 horses. Teaching resources include a full set of competition show jumps, portable cross-country fences and a mechanical horse.
1. You will be joining a diverse team of Equine Lecturers, Riding Instructors and Equine Grooms to enhance the curriculum provision and employability of equine learners. As part of the role, you’ll be required to prepare, teach, and assess at a variety of riding levels, providing support and guidance to your learners as they progress through their riding journeys.
2. You will be responsible for allocating horses and supervising their preparation. Within the role you will exercise College horses and can compete them in our onsite events.
3. You will work closely with industry professionals to enrich the learner experience in preparation for their next steps. Outside of term-time delivery, you will be responsible for assessing future applicants during their interviews, showcasing the department at marketing events as well as working with the Equine Grooms to maintain high levels of horse care.
4. Sharing your knowledge to unlock potential whilst guiding our learners through their studies, you’ll have specialist knowledge of Equine studies, which may be enhanced by any relevant industry / professional experience, as well as a formal qualification that underpins this knowledge.
To be considered for the role;
5. Candidates must hold a minimum of Level 3 qualification in a related area and have a recognised BHS riding instruction qualification (Stage 3 or above).
6. The successful candidate will be a team player, an excellent communicator, and able to maintain a proactive approach to managing deadlines, whilst retaining a high standard of delivery.
7. The ideal candidate will have a positive and can-do attitude and a strong desire to utilise their coaching skills to develop the riding ability of our college students.

Where you’ll work: This role is based at the Hadlow campus
Your hours: 25.9 hours per week / 52 weeks per annum. We welcome applications from candidates seeking any variation of part time hours; please provide your availability within your supporting statement.
Your pay: £24,838.10 per annum (£35,483 per annum Full-Time Equivalent)
