Environment & Energy Officer – Manufacturing
Gloucester – Permanent – Full-time – 37 hours, Monday to Friday – Salary £50,000

We’re looking for a proactive Environment & Energy Officer to oversee the site’s environmental and energy responsibilities, ensuring compliance with legal standards while supporting ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 frameworks. You’ll play a key role in helping the business meet its environmental obligations and sustainability goals.
The Role:
* Lead the day-to-day operations of environmental and energy management across site
* Maintain legal compliance by identifying risks, implementing controls, and staying ahead of legislation updates
* Support delivery and retention of ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 certification standards
* Drive initiatives in waste minimisation, energy efficiency, emissions reduction and solvent usage
* Coordinate with internal teams and regulatory bodies such as the Environment Agency
* Collect and analyse ESG and energy data to support reporting and compliance strategies
* Oversee hazardous waste processes and implement effective spill response practices
* Lead training sessions related to environmental risks, assessments, and mitigation
* Assist with environmental permitting and management plans including A2 Permit and Solvent Management
* Promote cross-functional engagement in sustainability, lifecycle assessments, and continuous improvement
The Person:
* Experience in environmental and energy management within a complex industrial or manufacturing environment
* Strong working knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 systems
* Qualified to NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate or IEMA (or equivalent)
* Excellent organisational, analytical, and communication skills
* Strong understanding of environmental regulation and legal obligations
* Capable of compiling reports, leading audits, and engaging with regulatory authorities
* Proactive, methodical, and highly organised with a "completer-finisher" mindset
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between local sites when needed

* Exposure to lean methodologies or continuous improvement tools
